ElkSend alternative for Shopify e-invoicing

Last updated 3 September 2026

ElkSend does the job Zeppol does: it turns a Shopify order into a structured e-invoice and puts it on a network. It is on sale today, it is cheap, and on two networks it reaches further than we do. This page says where it wins and where it does not, with a source and a date against every claim.

The short version: if you invoice into Denmark or Poland, or you need something running this month, buy ElkSend. If your problem is the German January 2027 mandate and you need the invoice number, the archive and the rule that refused a send to live in one place you can audit, Zeppol is built for that.

What ElkSend is

ElkSend is a Shopify app by Midori Virtuality OÜ, listed as "ElkSend e-Invoicing" with the tagline "Sends Peppol, Nemhandel, KSeF e-invoices from orders". It launched on 19 November 2025 and carries a 5.0 rating from a single review. It generates the e-invoice from order data, sends it, tracks the send status per order and lets you download the XML. A storefront extension gathers company details on the order status and thank you pages, so a buyer who forgot to give you a company identifier at checkout can still supply one. You can turn auto-send on, or keep a manual Send button. Checked on its Shopify App Store listing on 3 September 2026.

Pricing is a free plan at 0 dollars with 10 e-invoice sends to start, and a Standard plan at 19 dollars a month with 100 e-invoice sends each month, delivery status tracking and priority support. The Standard plan says you can buy extra sends at any time. What those extra sends cost is not published on the listing, so if your volume runs past 100 documents a month you are budgeting against a number you cannot see yet. Checked on the listing on 3 September 2026.

Their own site, elksend.com, leads on something broader: "Peppol e-invoicing integration for your ERP or in-house system". It names Peppol and Nemhandel. It publishes no pricing, names no access point provider, and says nothing about archiving, invoice numbering or emailing the invoice to the buyer. The Shopify app is one surface of a wider integration business. Checked at elksend.com and elksend.com/support on 3 September 2026.

What Zeppol is

Zeppol is a Shopify app for the EU e-invoicing mandates, Germany first, built for the B2B sending obligation that starts in January 2027. It turns an order into an EN 16931 invoice as Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 UBL, checks it against the European rules and the German national ones, gets the VAT right including reverse charge and VIES validation, and delivers it over a certified Peppol access point, keeping the handover receipt. Email delivery of the same EN 16931 document is a first class channel rather than a fallback, because Germany prescribes no transmission channel and plenty of buyers are not on Peppol.

Zeppol is Peppol only. It is not a route into Poland's KSeF, Italy's SdI, Spain's certified platform system or Denmark's Nemhandel, and the country pages on this site say so rather than listing those countries as supported.

Frequently asked questions

Is Zeppol an ElkSend alternative?

For Peppol sending, yes. Both apps turn a Shopify order into a structured e-invoice and put it on the Peppol network. They diverge on reach and on depth. ElkSend's App Store listing says it also sends over Nemhandel and KSeF, which Zeppol does not do. Zeppol goes deeper on one network instead: it owns the invoice number and the archive of record, and it stops a send that cannot reconcile against a named EN 16931 rule rather than handing a broken document to the network. Checked on the Shopify App Store listing at https://apps.shopify.com/elksend on 3 September 2026.

What does ElkSend cost?

Its App Store listing shows a free plan at 0 dollars with 10 e-invoice sends to start, unlimited invoice creation and XML download, and a Standard plan at 19 dollars a month with 100 e-invoice sends each month, Peppol delivery status tracking and priority support. The Standard plan says you can buy extra sends at any time, and the listing does not publish the price of those extra sends. Checked at https://apps.shopify.com/elksend on 3 September 2026.

When is ElkSend the better choice?

Two clear cases. First, if you invoice into Denmark or Poland: its listing says it sends over Nemhandel and KSeF as well as Peppol, and neither of those is reachable through a Peppol access point, so a Peppol only app cannot cover them. Second, if you need something installed this month: ElkSend has been on the Shopify App Store since 19 November 2025 and Zeppol is still in early access. A flat 19 dollars a month for 100 sends is also easier to budget than a product with no published price. Checked at https://apps.shopify.com/elksend on 3 September 2026.

Can a Peppol app make me compliant in Poland or Denmark?

Not by itself. Poland's KSeF is a national clearance platform with its own FA(3) XML structure and its own API, and Peppol access points do not deliver into it. Denmark's Nemhandel is a separate national infrastructure. An app that reaches those networks does so through a separate integration, not through Peppol. If a vendor lists a country, ask which network the document actually travels on.

Is Zeppol available now?

Zeppol is in early access, built for the German B2B sending mandate that starts in January 2027. ElkSend is on sale today. If your deadline is this month rather than 2027, that difference matters more than any feature row in the table.

E-invoices from your Shopify B2B orders

Zeppol turns every B2B order into an EN 16931 document, checks it against the EU and the German rules, and sends it over Peppol or by email. Join the list and I'll be in touch before the deadline.
